I compete in saltwater fishing tournaments with my teammate Sam Arcure, Sr. We are a father and son fishing team known as Team Arcure that competes in the Professional Redfish Tour and the ESPN Redfish Cup. Since the beginning of the year, we have traveled thousands of miles throughout the Southeastern United States to compete in fishing tournaments that are held in some of the most popular fishing destinations in the world. Team Arcure is also competing in the ESPN Redfish Cup which is being televised on ESPN2. Team Arcure will be participating in several tournaments one of which will be held in our home waters of Punta Gorda, FL. By competing in the ESPN Redfish Cup, Team Arcure has the goal of winning the event and qualifying for the no entry fee Redfish Cup Championship to be held in Venice, LA. The Redfish Cup is in its second year and was started by the same people who started the Bassmasters. Mr. McKinnis and JM Associates have brought Bass fishing to the spotlight and now they are doing the same for Redfishing. “Then the sport of competitive fishing grew, capturing the imagination of the masses. And now the latest creation is made-for-television redfishing, under the title of the Redfish Cup, brought to you by the same people who bring you the finest bass fishing television in the world.”

Captain Sam Arcure is a licensed Captain who Charters out of the Fort Myers, Florida area. He charters clients anywhere from Naples to Ft. Myers in search of Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, Sea Trout and other game fish. Sam Arcure, Sr. also guides out of Ft. Myers, Florida for trophy fish such as Tarpon and Snook. Team Arcure prides itself in teaching people how to catch fish and enjoy the fishing experience. In that process, we provide clients with helpful tips on what type of tackle to buy how to use it and where to buy it. Capt. Sam Arcure is an instructor at the Backwater Fishing School sponsored by Genmar and Evinrude.

Team Arcure competed in the 2003 Ranger/ Mercury IFA Redfish Tour and posted a best finish of 2nd Place at the Punta Gorda Tournament. As a result of the 2nd place finish at Punta Gorda, Team Arcure’s accomplishment was shown nationally on the Outdoor Life Network with the program “Americana Outdoors.” In September 2003 Outdoor Life Network aired “Americana Outdoors: Key Largo Redfish Tour” which featured Team Arcure fishing for approximately ten minutes. This program also aired on FOX Sports FL and FOX Sports South in September 2003.

Team Arcure has competed in over 25 professional tournaments to date.
